WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP! THE KIM HAS SPOKEN!
Little interview about Harley Street.....
Kim finds life after Walford Almost three years after leaving EastEnders, Kim Medcalf is moving up in the world with slick ITV1 drama Harley Street, writes Jonathan Donald.
Kim plays Annie Harker, the nurse and manager of a plush practice in London's famous private-health heartland. She's a world away from the disaster area that was Sam Mitchell.
"They couldn't be more different," says the affable actress, 34.
"Annie is a professional. Everything she does is very considered," continues Kim, who co-stars with Paul Nicholls, also a former EastEnder, and Suranne Jones (ex-Corrie) in the six-parter.
"She's the rational one who keeps the surgery together, whereas Sam messed everything up and made decisions based on her heart rather than her head.
"Annie's much more sensible than Sam and she's very capable and dedicated."
Though never being tempted by the medical profession - Kim studied law before turning to acting - she does have close relatives in the business.
"My brother's actually a surgeon," she reveals. "I can remember when he was doing his training he used to come home thinking he had every condition he'd been learning about that day.
"His wife's also a GP, so when I got the part I asked them for advice."
Kim left EastEnders in September 2005 with Sam leaving to join brother Grant in Brazil after escaping prison for her part in the murder of Den Watts.
Despite virtually disappearing from TV, the versatile actress hasn't stopped working.
"I was very lucky," she says. "Within a week I got a job in Hay Fever in the West End, with Dame Judi Dench and Peter Bowles. The nicest job."
Drawing on her ability to sing and dance, Kim then landed the lead role of Sally Bowles in the musical Cabaret, again in the West End.
"I suppose I did go through a sort of detox after EastEnders," says the star, who's in a relationship but chooses not to name her other half.
"It wasn't a conscious thing not to do telly, but I tried to do different things, and theatre just turned up."
Being in a soap can prove a curse for those who try to find work beyond.
"For me it's only been a good thing," says Kim. "People do know you, but it did surprise some how different I am to Sam. I'm not a serial s*****r like she was," laughs the actress.
"I'm actually a nice girl. I do think it's important not to stay too long in a soap. Four years was long enough." Harley Street, ITV1, July
Also, WOOOOOOOOOOOOP it's in July ;D ;D ;D Some of that did make me chuckle!

LMAO i was just reading that. I can totally see Kim as this nurse now slightly anxious about the sexy part of it but whatever go nurse annie is what i say. Loving the hair in kims pic, looks like a bit of feathered layering going on there and its still short, rock on!
HAA yes personal trainer, lets hope he's a bit of dish cos we cant have him being a bit of a minger, and i do hope there will be no tears in this coming from Annie when this trainer gets ill or i'll have to get the tissues out. but i am excited, i'll do the spazzing out you did tomorrow cos its way too late to spaz now lmao, it'll gimme summat to smile and laugh to myself about in my exam tomorrow as well.

LOL I just can't imagine this being an ITV thing, sounds so BBCish. Each episode is an hour, but we'll have annoying adverts which sucks a bit. It must be real satisfying for like the writers and producers and stuff when stuff finally goes onto tv, 'cos I found stuff that first says about it back in October last year, things take looooooong.
HA what are you a hairdresser?! Just the other month you said you liked it long lol!
Eugh no not like that bloke in Death Becomes Him, he's in the cathedral city advert, I like that cheese.
